Eric Carmen, celebrated as the Raspberries’ lead vocalist and for his numerous solo hits spanning the ’70s and ’80s, including the iconic “All By Myself,” has passed away, as confirmed by his family.
The heartrending announcement came through a message on the singer’s website, penned by his wife, Amy. “With profound sorrow, we announce the loss of Eric Carmen,” the message conveyed.
Amy further shared, “Eric left us peacefully in his sleep over the weekend. Knowing his music brought joy to many for decades and will continue as his enduring legacy brought him immense happiness.”
The family has requested privacy during this difficult time, noting that Eric had not been suffering from any publicly known health issues.
Eric Carmen’s departure marks a significant loss to the music world. He was a defining figure in pop culture during the late 20th century, with his hit “All By Myself” achieving massive success. His creative output continued into the following decades with hits like “Never Gonna Fall in Love Again,” “She Did It,” “Hungry Eyes” from the “Dirty Dancing” soundtrack, and “Make Me Lose Control.”
His repertoire also includes memorable tracks such as “Go All the Way,” “Love Is All That Matters,” “I’m Through With Love,” “It Hurts Too Much,” “The Way We Used to Be,” “I Wanna Hear It From Your Lips,” among others.
In addition to his work with the Raspberries, Carmen released six solo albums, cementing his status as a music industry phenomenon. He leaves behind his wife and two children. Eric was 74 years old.
