Late on Wednesday night, the Baltimore Ravens made the decision to part ways with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. after a single season. This information comes from Field Yates. Beckham Jr. is now considered a post-June 1 release. This allows the Ravens to distribute the financial impact over 2024 and 2025. As a result, Beckham Jr. has become an unrestricted free agent.
In April of the previous year, Beckham Jr. agreed to a one-year contract with the Ravens, valued at up to $18 million. He renegotiated his contract in January to facilitate a post-June 1 release, should an agreement not be reached before the start of the new league year.
During the 2023 season, Beckham Jr. made 35 catches from 64 attempts, amassing 565 yards. He ranked second in receiving yards for the team. Additionally, he scored three touchdowns over 14 games. In the playoffs, he participated in two games, starting one, and made four receptions for 34 yards without scoring any touchdowns.
This offseason, the Ravens retained wide receiver Nelson Agholor and enhanced their offense by signing running back Derrick Henry, formerly of the Tennessee Titans. The team’s offensive lineup also features wide receivers Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, providing quarterback Lamar Jackson with a variety of playmakers.
Last season marked Beckham Jr.’s return to the field after recovering from an ACL injury sustained during Super Bowl LVI while playing for the Los Angeles Rams. He had joined the Rams for the 2021 season and missed the entire 2022 season due to the injury.
Over his career, the 31-year-old Beckham Jr. has achieved 566 receptions, 7,932 receiving yards, and 59 touchdowns. His accolades include a Super Bowl championship, the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2014, three Pro Bowl selections, and two Second Team All-Pro honors.
Beckham Jr.’s professional journey began when the New York Giants selected him 12th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. He played for the Giants until 2018 before moving to the Cleveland Browns, where he played from 2019 to 2021. His time with the Browns ended following some team drama, leading to his release and subsequent signing with the Rams.
