‘The Bear’ Secures Season 4 Renewal, Set to Film Consecutively with Season 3

Exciting news for “The Bear” enthusiasts: there’s more content on the horizon than anticipated. Insider sources have revealed to Deadline that the critically acclaimed FX on Hulu series, which secured a renewal for its third season last November, is also set to film a fourth season consecutively in Chicago.

Though the announcement for a fourth season hasn’t been made official, and FX representatives have opted not to comment, the buzz around “The Bear” filming additional episodes beyond its third season has been growing. This discussion began circulating through Chicago’s local media outlets over the recent week.

This development has sparked speculation about whether these consecutive seasons might signal the end of the beloved restaurant comedy series. This situation mirrors the conclusion of another celebrated FX comedy, “Atlanta,” which concluded after filming its third and fourth seasons back-to-back.

However, the future beyond the fourth season remains open, with a fifth season still being a possibility. The decision to film seasons three and four consecutively is partly due to scheduling conflicts, as stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri are in high demand for feature film roles. White, in particular, has already made a name for himself as a leading actor with his performance in “The Iron Claw.”

The show’s success has not only elevated the profiles of its Emmy-winning actors, White, Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, but also that of its creator, Christopher Storer. Storer’s influence has grown significantly as “The Bear” has become a cultural phenomenon. Recently, Deadline exclusively reported that Storer is set to write and direct a film adaptation of Amor Towles’ “The Lincoln Highway.”

“The Bear” is scheduled to return with its third season in June, continuing as a Hulu exclusive. The series will be available for binge-watching upon its release.

Filming for the third season kicked off last month, with internet detectives in Chicago sharing intriguing and potentially revealing photos from the set.

“The Bear” made a significant impact with its first season, securing 10 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy and Outstanding Writing. Its second season has already been broadcast, but last year’s strikes by writers and actors added complexity to the series’ eligibility for the 75th Emmy Awards. Nevertheless, the second season won Golden Globes for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, and was recognized for the performances of White and Edebiri.
