Justin Fields is leaving Chicago behind.
A report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter reveals that the Chicago Bears have agreed to trade quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The trade involves a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, which could potentially upgrade to a fourth-round pick based on Fields’ playtime.
During his three-year tenure with the Bears, Fields achieved a completion rate of 60.3 percent for his passes, amassing 6,674 yards. He threw 40 touchdowns and was intercepted 30 times. On the ground, Fields rushed for 2,220 yards, with 1,143 of those coming in 2022 alone, and scored 14 rushing touchdowns. His record as a starter was 10-28.
Ryan Poles, the General Manager, emphasized at the NFL Scouting Combine press conference that in the event of a trade involving Fields, he aimed to act swiftly. He wanted to ensure Fields was treated fairly and wasn’t left in suspense about his future.
Fields is now set to start a new chapter with the Steelers, following the initial rush of NFL free agency. He will be vying for the starting quarterback position against Russell Wilson.
As for the Chicago Bears, this move strongly indicates their intention to draft USC quarterback Caleb Williams as the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft next month.
