WASHINGTON, D.C. — The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived. After a long 37 years, NC State has emerged victorious in the ACC Tournament Championship in men’s basketball. This remarkable achievement was secured after playing 205 minutes across five games, including one overtime period.
The Wolfpack, with a record of 22-14 (14-11 ACC), triumphed over the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels with a score of 84-76. This victory on Saturday evening in Washington, D.C., not only ended their long wait but also guaranteed them a spot in the NCAA Tournament. This was made possible after they became the first team in ACC history to win five games in five consecutive days to claim the championship.
DJ Horne and DJ Burns, both in their fifth year, led the charge for NC State, scoring 29 and 20 points respectively. Their determination played a crucial role in the Wolfpack’s win. Additionally, Mohamed Diarra contributed with 13 rebounds, while Casey Morsell and Jayden Taylor, despite battling injuries, delivered brave performances to help secure the victory for their team.
