All lanes heading west on the 10 Freeway were shut down for several hours after a tragic accident occurred just west of the 110 Freeway.
The freeway was reopened around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, following confirmation from the Los Angeles Fire Department of a crash earlier that afternoon.
The collision, involving two vehicles, happened near the Hoover Street off-ramp, according to officials. At the scene, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported that an adult male was declared dead.
In addition, five other individuals were rushed to nearby hospitals in conditions ranging from serious to critical. Among the injured were four children: a 3-month-old, a 6-year-old, a 7-year-old, and a 10-year-old, along with a 29-year-old woman.
It was also reported that another adult male involved in the crash managed to escape without any injuries.
The incident led to significant traffic delays in the area throughout the afternoon. Traffic congestion was notable around Los Angeles County for the entire day. Notably, there were extensive delays near LAX due to construction activities in the area.
Moreover, several key roads were closed on Sunday morning in light of the L.A. Marathon, adding to the day’s traffic challenges.
