In Buffalo, New York, the Bisons have unveiled exciting updates for Sahlen Field, including a move to cashless transactions, earlier start times for night games, and a refreshed menu. This announcement was made during the “What’s New at the Ballpark” event on Tuesday.
Sahlen Field is now joining the ranks of KeyBank Center and Highmark Stadium by adopting a cashless system, except for the box office. To ease into this new system, the team has increased the number of payment devices by 30%.
Anthony Sprague, the general manager of the Bisons, believes this change will enhance service speed. He noted that feedback often pointed to slow service, especially for food, and this update aims to address that issue efficiently.
The 2024 menu at the ballpark promises to delight fans with both classic and new offerings. Attendees can look forward to enjoying the iconic Sahlen’s hotdog, popcorn, and peanuts. Additionally, the menu will feature unique items such as Alexandra’s beef and chicken Mini Dumplings, Beef Short Rib Skewers, BBQ pulled pork nachos, Super Weekly nachos, New England crab cake sliders, Truffle parmesan potato-O’s, and Ice cream nachos.
Aiming to attract a younger audience, the Bisons have adjusted the majority of their night game start times to 6:35 p.m., which is 30 minutes earlier than the previous 7:05 p.m. start. This does not apply to Friday night games.
A special day themed around the children’s cartoon show “Bluey and Bingo” will be part of the season’s highlights, designed to draw kids to the game.
The season is packed with themed promotional games, including Star Wars Night, Lacrosse Night with the Buffalo Bandits, Independence Eve Celebration with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond Night, and Hockey Day with the Buffalo Sabres. Other notable events include Meet Bluey & Dingo Day, Princess Day, School Kids Day, various Campout Series nights, Irish Night, Italian Night, Polish Night, Hispanic Heritage Night, Native American Heritage Night, Pride Night, World Softball Day, Strike Out Cancer Night, Military & First Responders Day, Deaf & Hard of Hearing Awareness Night, Friendship Bracelet Night, Celery-brate the Summer, Olympics Night, and Obscure Jersey Night.
The Bisons are set to kick off their season at 2:05 p.m. on March 29 at home against Scranton, promising an exciting and engaging season for fans of all ages.
