Six People Injured in Shooting at Broad Ripple Bar, Police Report

A tragic event unfolded in the early hours at Landsharks, a bar located on Broad Ripple Avenue in Indianapolis. Police have launched an investigation following a shooting that resulted in one fatality and left several others injured.

The incident occurred just before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday at the establishment situated at 808 Broad Ripple Avenue. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers, who were on duty nearby, were alerted to the situation by the sound of gunfire emanating from inside the bar.

Upon responding, the officers discovered five men with gunshot wounds at the scene. These individuals were promptly transported to local hospitals for medical attention. Additionally, another victim sought treatment at an Indianapolis hospital independently, raising the total number of people affected to six.

Sadly, one of the victims succumbed to their injuries. However, the police have reported that the remaining victims are believed to be in stable condition.

IMPD North District Commander, Matthew Thomas, expressed his concern, stating, “Violence in our community is absolutely unacceptable.” The police are yet to apprehend a suspect but are actively interviewing witnesses and reviewing footage captured by nearby cameras.

The identity of the deceased will be disclosed by the Marion County Coroner’s Office once the family has been duly informed.

In response to the incident, the Broad Ripple Village Association released a statement expressing their sorrow and condemnation of the violence. They emphasized their commitment to working with local business owners to ensure a safe environment in the village. The association also highlighted the importance of security measures and operating procedures in maintaining safety for both staff and patrons. They pledged to collaborate with city officials and law enforcement to address violence and foster a peaceful community.
