Suspect Arrested and Charged for Fatal Stabbing Incident in September 2022

In Austin, Texas, on March 8, authorities arrested a man linked to a tragic incident that occurred in September 2022. This event unfolded in the northern part of the city and involved a fatal stabbing, as detailed in official documents from Travis County court.

David Michael Flores, 45, faces charges of first-degree murder for the death of 43-year-old Victor Hernandez, according to court records. Following his arrest, Flores managed to post a $300,000 bond and secured his release from Travis County jail on Wednesday.

KXAN has made efforts to contact Flores’ legal representative for a comment. Updates will be provided as soon as a response is obtained.

The incident traces back to September 17, 2022, when Austin Police Department officers were dispatched following a distress call. The call reported an assault in the 8600 block of Research Boulevard, where an individual was allegedly attacked by a man wielding a knife.

Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered Hernandez on the ground, suffering from a stab wound. Despite their efforts, Hernandez succumbed to his injuries, and his death was officially classified as a homicide.

Flores, the suspect, had fled the scene by the time authorities arrived. However, officers later located a man fitting his description in the vicinity. During the investigation, Flores claimed he acted in self-defense and confessed to stabbing Hernandez in the chest.
