Upstate New York Man Found Deceased After Missing for 3 Days in ATV Accident, According to Deputies

In Preston, New York, a tragic event unfolded when a 38-year-old man, who was reported missing and considered vulnerable, lost his life in an ATV accident. This incident occurred on a Sunday, marking a sorrowful end to the search for him.

Nicholas W. Andrews, hailing from Preston, embarked on a journey from his residence at around 6 p.m. on a Thursday. He was navigating a Polaris Sportsman 4-wheeler. The search for Andrews concluded with the discovery of his body in the Preston vicinity on Sunday, as confirmed by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

On that fateful Thursday, Andrews was seen riding his ATV along Turner Street in Preston. His mobility and vision were significantly impaired due to a traumatic brain injury, complicating his ability to navigate safely.

The authorities had issued a New York Missing Vulnerable Adult Alert for Andrews on Saturday, a day before he was found. His death was attributed to injuries sustained in the ATV accident.

In response to his disappearance, a comprehensive search was initiated. This effort saw the participation of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, state Forest Rangers, the Search and Rescue Federation, and numerous community volunteers, all coming together in hopes of finding Andrews.
