Victoria Woman Faces Assault Charges Following Arrest | Crime & Courts

In Victoria, on March 9, authorities reported the arrest of a woman on charges of assault that led to bodily harm.

Brenna Barefield, aged 30, found herself in custody following a swift response from the Victoria Police Department to a distress call from an apartment complex on North Ben Jordan Street. The call was about an assault. When the officers arrived, they encountered a man bearing cuts and dried blood on his nose and lips.

The man’s shirt, hands, and the inside of his left ear also had blood on them. He recounted to the officers that Barefield became furious over something related to “Facebook” and attacked him while he was in bed. He suffered cuts on the right side of his face and mentioned that Barefield had hurled a picture frame at him, causing it to break.

The police were shown a video by the man, which documented the assault. The footage captured Barefield hitting and spitting on the man’s face. It also showed her throwing picture frames at him, which broke upon impact.

Following the incident, Barefield was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury related to family violence. She was then transported to the Victoria County Jail. There, officials from Gulf Bend spoke with her and she underwent a mental health evaluation. After receiving clearance, she was formally booked into the jail.
