The unveiling of the first trailer for Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus brings with it a swarm of Facehuggers. This quick, one-minute preview of the new standalone movie offers some intriguing insights. We catch a glimpse of a blood-stained space station, the menacing group of Facehuggers, and a fleeting look at a Xenomorph towards the end. Cailee Spaeny shines as the lead, bravely facing a host of unwelcome extraterrestrial visitors, much like Sigourney Weaver did before her.

Additionally, a new poster has been released, which you can view here.
Revealed for the first time in March 2022, the film sees Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead (2013) director Álvarez taking the reins. Álvarez’s unique vision for the movie, which stands apart from its predecessors, captivated Alien director Ridley Scott for years. Scott serves as a producer on Romulus.
Romulus finds its place in the timeline between Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). A bit more about the storyline was shared by Disney’s 20th Century Studios last year, though details remain somewhat mysterious:
“In this ninth installment of the highly acclaimed and enduring film series, a group of young explorers on a remote planet face off against the universe’s most fearsome creature.”
The cast includes Mare of Easttown’s Cailee Spaeny, alongside David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu.
Alien: Romulus is set to premiere in theaters on August 16, 2024.
