Dr. Dre recently shared his experience with a brain aneurysm in 2021 during an interview on SiriusXM’s *The Life of Mine With James Corden*. He revealed that he suffered multiple strokes while hospitalized.
During his conversation with James Corden, Dre opened up about the terrifying ordeal. He mentioned that, unexpectedly, he had three strokes over two weeks. This period was marked by uncertainty and fear.
Dre described the initial symptoms that led him to seek medical help. He woke up one morning with an unusual sensation behind his right ear, which quickly escalated into unbearable pain.
Ignoring the pain at first, Dre tried to continue with his day, hoping it would subside. However, upon insistence from his son’s friend, he was rushed to urgent care. This decision proved crucial.
His condition worsened rapidly, leading to moments of lost consciousness. Eventually, Dre found himself in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he spent two weeks. Doctors frequently reminded him of his fortunate survival.
Dre received care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He expressed gratitude towards the medical staff for their exceptional treatment in a statement released in 2021.
Despite seeking answers on how to prevent such a health scare in the future, Dre was left without clear guidance. He was unaware of any pre-existing conditions, such as high blood pressure, due to his active and health-conscious lifestyle.
He highlighted the prevalence of high blood pressure among Black men, referring to it as a “silent killer.” This experience has made Dre more conscious of his health and the importance of regular check-ups.
The ordeal has given Dre a new appreciation for life. He feels more grateful for every moment he gets to experience.
