Dr. Dre Reveals He Suffered Three Strokes Following 2021 Brain Aneurysm

Dr. Dre recently opened up about his health struggles during an engaging conversation on the SiriusXM show, This Life of Mine With James Corden. The iconic rapper shared his experience with a life-threatening brain aneurysm he encountered in 2021. He also disclosed that he suffered three strokes after being hospitalized for the aneurysm.

Dre recounted the terrifying start of his ordeal, revealing that he woke up one day experiencing severe head pain. It was his son and a friend who urged him to seek immediate medical attention. Upon arriving at urgent care, he was informed that his condition was critical.

“The next thing I knew, I was losing consciousness,” Dre shared. He described how he fluctuated in and out of consciousness and eventually found himself in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he spent two weeks. “I kept hearing doctors say how fortunate I was to be alive… It’s a terrifying experience, something beyond your control, and during those two weeks, I went through three strokes.”

In a revealing moment, Dre expressed one of the scariest aspects of his health scare was the mystery surrounding the cause of his aneurysm. “No one could provide me with a clear answer,” he said. Despite being vigilant about his health, engaging in weightlifting, running, and other health-conscious activities, Dre was unaware he had high blood pressure. He highlighted the silent threat of high blood pressure, especially among Black men, emphasizing the importance of regular health check-ups.

Reflecting on his experience, Dre mentioned how it profoundly changed his outlook on life. “It definitely makes you value life more, that’s for sure,” he remarked. The randomness of the event, the sudden realization that such a health scare could happen without warning, has made him more appreciative of every moment.

Dre’s story is a powerful reminder of the unpredictability of health issues and the importance of not taking life for granted.
