Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Guts (Spilled)’ Earns Top Honors as Best New Music

Olivia Rodrigo’s latest masterpiece, “Guts (Spilled),” has clinched the top spot in this week’s music release poll. Fans cast their votes in a survey that Billboard published on Friday, March 22, expressing their preference for the deluxe edition of the 21-year-old pop sensation’s second album over other recent releases.

With a commanding 43% of the total votes, “Guts (Spilled)” outperformed new offerings from a diverse array of artists including Shakira (“Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”), Tyla (“Tyla”), Future and Metro Boomin (“We Don’t Trust You”), Pearl Jam (“Running”), Matt Champion (“Mika’s Laundry”), among others.

The deluxe edition of Rodrigo’s 2023 album “Guts” enriches fans with five additional tracks, notably featuring the freshly recorded “So American.” This song, alongside four “secret” tracks previously available on various “Guts” vinyl editions—”Obsessed,” “Scared of My Guitar,” “Stranger,” and “Girl I’ve Always Been”—rounds out the expanded collection.

The Grammy-awarded artist took the opportunity to announce “Guts (Spilled)” during her performance at Chicago’s United Center on March 19, surprising attendees by revealing a sign that announced the deluxe album’s release date.

Following her 2021 debut album “Sour,” Rodrigo’s “Guts” was unveiled in September 2023, quickly ascending to the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart by September 23, 2023. The album’s lead single “Vampire” also secured a spot at the pinnacle of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In February, Rodrigo embarked on her global Guts World Tour, planning to visit venues across North America and Europe over the next five months. The tour is set to conclude with four performances at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.

Shakira’s “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” trailed behind “Guts (Spilled)” in the poll, securing nearly 28% of the votes. This album marks Shakira’s first release since her 2017 Grammy-winning “El Dorado,” featuring tracks like “Última,” “Cómo Dónde y Cuándo,” and “La Fuerte,” another collaboration with Bizarrap.
