Nebraska Family Expresses Gratitude to Community for Support in Acquiring Service Dog

In Bennington, Nebraska, a single press of a button could be the key to safeguarding the life of 5-year-old Memphis Keck. Memphis battles with several health issues, including frequent, unpredictable absent seizures. This prompted his parents, Allyson and Trek Keck, to work tirelessly towards acquiring a service dog for him.

Trek expressed the joy of adding a new member to their family, one who could assist with Memphis’s medical needs. The Kecks’ quest for a service dog caught the attention of KETV in September 2023. Remarkably, just days following the broadcast of their story, the community rallied together, raising over $24,000 to support Memphis’s need for a service dog.

Allyson shared their gratitude towards the Omaha community, stating that acquiring Moose, the service dog, would not have been possible without their support. Moose has quickly become an indispensable part of Memphis’s life, offering him companionship and assistance.

Moose underwent extensive training with Doggie Does Good in California, specializing in responding to Memphis’s seizures. Allyson recounted a moment when Moose comforted Memphis during a crying spell, showcasing the profound bond between them. As Memphis recovers from hip surgery and Moose matures, the service dog will also aid Memphis in relearning to walk.

Trek highlighted the reassurance they feel knowing Moose is trained to support Memphis’s walking journey. Within just a week, Memphis and Moose have become inseparable, a connection that would have been delayed by five to ten years without the support of the Omaha community.

The Kecks are immensely thankful to Doggie Does Good for training Moose and to their community for making a significant difference in Memphis’s life. To follow the adventures of Memphis and Moose, you can find them on Instagram at @mighty_moose22.
