Paragould Resident Charged with Fatal Assault on Dog Through Stomping Incident

In Paragould, Arkansas, a distressing incident has come to light involving a local man and a severe act of animal cruelty.

Adam McClung, a 32-year-old from Paragould, is now facing serious legal consequences. This follows an event that occurred at a resident’s home where he tragically ended the life of their dog.

The arrest of McClung took place on Tuesday, March 19. This action was taken after a judge determined there was sufficient evidence to charge him. The charges laid against him include aggravated cruelty towards animals, specifically targeting dogs, cats, or horses, and issuing terroristic threats.

This incident traces back to February 29, on North Fifth Street. It was here that McClung shockingly took the life of the dog right on the homeowner’s front porch.

Eyewitnesses provided harrowing accounts of the event. They reported that McClung violently threw the dog against the house’s wall before mercilessly stomping on the animal’s head. Following this brutal act, McClung tried to force his way into the house, threatening the lives of those inside.

Detective Corporal Tron Beesley shared that McClung attempted to enter the home but ultimately fled the scene. This occurred before the arrival of the police officers.

Following these events, on March 1, Greene County District Court Judge Daniel Stidham issued a warrant for McClung’s arrest.

Recent updates from online jail records indicate that McClung was released from the Greene County Detention Center on Wednesday, March 20. He is now awaiting his next court appearance.
