Search Intensifies for Dog Missing Since Collision Near Legends Mall Two Days Ago

In Kansas City, Kansas, the search is still on for a missing dog named Cosmo. This search began over two days ago following a collision that occurred early in the morning near Legends Mall.

Emergency teams are tirelessly looking for Cosmo, a Siberian Husky, who vanished on March 18, 2024, after the accident. The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department has reached out to the community through social media. They asked everyone to keep an eye out for Cosmo, who is lost and frightened since the mishap on I-435 on Monday.

The incident was reported early Monday morning around 6:10 a.m. It happened at the intersection of I-435 and I-70, close to Legends Mall. A 2022 Dodge Charger, driven by Vanessa Lupian Moreno, 25, from Charlotte, North Carolina, was traveling west on I-70. At the same time, a semi-truck with a 2012 Great Dane trailer, driven by Grant C. Dorsey, 61, from Greenwood, Missouri, was coming down the ramp from I-435 to merge onto westbound I-70. The Charger collided with the left side of the semi-truck’s trailer and became immobilized in the fourth lane.

Both Lupian Moreno and her passenger, Ezra Adams, 28, also from Charlotte, were transported to Providence Medical Center with possible injuries. Fortunately, Dorsey was unharmed in the crash. It’s important to note that everyone involved was wearing their seatbelts.

Cosmo was initially secured by Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers and members of the Kansas Turnpike Authority for transport to KCK Animal Services. This was while Adams, the dog’s owner, was receiving medical care. However, the collision scared Cosmo, and he managed to break free while being transported to the animal services.

Since his escape, Cosmo has been seen in various locations around Kansas City, Kansas. Sightings have been reported from Parkwood Park at 10th and Quindaro Blvd. to City Park at 33rd and Park Dr. Nancy Atherton and her team from KC Trappers, along with Animal Services, are combining their efforts to locate and safely capture Cosmo to reunite him with Adams.

Cosmo is described as a male Siberian Husky. Notably, he is not wearing a collar, as he slipped out of it during his escape. The public is advised not to approach Cosmo if spotted, due to his frightened state. Instead, sightings should be reported by texting 980-371-4109 or 913-213-7515, or by calling 913-321-1445.
