Woman Escapes Police Pursuit by Driving into Ocean with Her Two Dogs

In a stunning turn of events late Saturday night, a high-speed chase concluded with a car plunging into the ocean. This incident occurred just south of Venice pier, involving a woman driver and her two dogs in the backseat, who astonishingly drove her vehicle straight into the sea.

Around 11:21 p.m., the pursuit began when California Highway Patrol officers tried to stop a silver BMW X3 for speeding on the 10 Freeway near Temple City Boulevard. Instead of pulling over, the female driver sped away, heading westbound towards the coastline.

The chase reached a dramatic climax when the car hit the surf and became trapped in the waves. The driver then exited the vehicle and began swimming further out to sea. This unusual scene attracted the attention of more than a dozen beachgoers, with additional onlookers watching from the pier.

In an effort to rescue the driver, now struggling in the water, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department sprang into action. Meanwhile, Los Angeles Fire Department lifeguards made a heartwarming discovery – two small dogs left in the backseat of the car.

A touching moment was captured on video, showing a lifeguard rescuing one of the dogs, holding it securely as he made his way back to the beach.

The saga concluded with the driver being safely brought onto a police boat and detained, as per CHP records. The welfare of the two dogs was promptly addressed, with animal control taking them into their care.
