At a rally in Dayton, Ohio, on a recent Saturday, former President Donald Trump voiced his criticism of Joe Biden for retracting his use of the term “illegal” when referring to the suspect in Laken Riley’s tragic demise.
Breitbart News shared the story of Laken Riley, who tragically became one of the increasing number of American citizens allegedly killed by migrants unlawfully present in the United States.
On February 23, Jose Antonio Ibarra, a 26-year-old from Venezuela, was accused of the kidnapping and murder of Laken Riley, a nursing student at Augusta University. This occurred while she was on a morning jog near the University of Georgia campus in Athens. Before this incident, Ibarra had been protected from deportation by New York’s sanctuary state policy, despite being arrested in New York City in August 2023 for injuring a child under 17 and a motor vehicle violation. This policy allowed him to be released from jail before ICE could take him into custody.
During the State of the Union address, President Joe Biden unexpectedly used the term “illegal” to describe Riley’s accused murderer. However, he later expressed regret for this choice of words.
In an interview, when MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart questioned Biden about his terminology, Biden corrected himself, stating the individual was “an undocumented person” and admitted he regretted using the term “illegal.”
At the Ohio rally, Trump emphasized, “Laken’s killer is an illegal alien criminal.” He criticized Biden for prioritizing the feelings of illegal alien criminals over the safety of American citizens. Trump pledged, “Not one more American life should be lost to migrant crime. When I am President of the United States, I will demand JUSTICE FOR LAKEN.” He promised to end all Open Border policies of the Biden administration on his first day back in office and to start the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.
Trump also highlighted the negative impact of illegal immigration on African American and Hispanic-American communities. He accused Biden of betraying African American voters by issuing work permits to illegal aliens, which he claimed undercut wages for American workers and resulted in jobs going predominantly to foreign-born workers under Biden’s Open Border policy.
