Trump Asserts Democratic Voters Back Him, Citing Lack of Hope Under Biden Leadership

On a recent Sunday, former President Trump shared his belief that he enjoys significant support from Democratic voters, who, according to him, secretly back him. He is confident of a grand win in 2024, citing a lack of enthusiasm among President Biden’s supporters.

During an interview on Fox News’ “MediaBuzz” with Howard Kurtz, Trump highlighted “hope” as the key difference between him and Biden.

Trump observed that in places like Florida and Alabama, where Trump signs are widespread, people are searching for hope. He argued that hope is missing with Biden, whom he referred to as a “deadhead.”

The Biden campaign faces challenges in igniting voter enthusiasm. Their strategy has largely involved portraying Trump as a threat to the nation’s future.

Trump believes that a significant number of Democrats, possibly between 10 to 12 percent, secretly vote for him. He mentioned that even in areas like Beverly Hills, people vote for him but choose not to disclose it.

He bases his theory on the behavior observed in the 2016 election exit polls. Trump pointed out that there was a notable number of voters who preferred not to reveal their choice, suggesting that these individuals were likely his supporters.

Despite Trump’s claims, public opinion polls suggest that only a small fraction of Democrats are likely to support him. Recent Ipsos poll results indicate that less than 1 percent of Biden’s 2020 voters plan to vote for Trump in the upcoming election. Similarly, a minimal percentage of former Trump voters have expressed intentions to vote for Biden.

In national polls, Trump and Biden are closely matched, with Trump slightly ahead by 1 point. When third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is considered, Trump’s lead slightly increases to just over 2 points, as per The Hill/Decision Desk HQ polling averages.
