Over the weekend, a group of migrants was seen crossing the United States-Mexico border wall in Arizona without any obstacles. They even took selfies after entering American territory. The footage of this event was captured in Lukeville, Arizona, on a Friday by Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin. The video shows men, women, and children in casual attire, carrying their belongings and celebrating their arrival with their cellphones in hand.

This incident is part of a larger trend of record-high illegal immigration during President Biden’s tenure, particularly in the Tucson Sector, a hotspot for illegal crossings. This event occurred shortly after the arrest of five child sex offenders by U.S. Border Patrol agents across various sectors and follows an FBI warning about the diverse threats posed by drug trafficking, violent gangs, and smugglers with potential ties to ISIS at the border.

A significant increase in migrant activity at the southern border has been reported, with border officials witnessing a massive surge. In a span of just two days, over 14,000 illegal migrants were encountered, with the Tucson Sector leading in apprehensions. This surge in activity underscores the ongoing challenges at the border.

Border officials also estimated that an additional 1,000 individuals evaded capture during this period. This situation has been evolving since President Biden took office, with illegal border crossings showing seasonal fluctuations but overall indicating a trend of increasing numbers. The anticipation of policy changes depending on the outcome of the upcoming presidential election adds to the urgency felt by migrants.

Immigration and border security are becoming pivotal issues in the 2024 presidential race, with both President Biden and the likely Republican nominee, Donald Trump, making visits to the border. President Biden, having reversed several of Trump’s immigration policies, has expressed a preference for legislative over executive actions to address border security and is calling on Congress to develop a lasting solution.
