Accuser Appeals Against Red Bull Verdict, According to Reports

On March 16, 2024, at 05:56 PM ET, reports emerged that a Red Bull Formula One employee has taken further action against team leader Christian Horner by appealing her previously dismissed complaint of inappropriate behavior. This development was shared by both the BBC and the PA news agency.

This appeal is poised to keep the controversy in the spotlight within the Formula One community and add tension to the ongoing season.

The woman, whose identity remains confidential, faced suspension last week. This action followed an investigation by a senior independent lawyer, also not named, which concluded in Horner’s favor.

Horner, aged 50, has consistently denied the allegations made against him.

The dispute involving Christian Horner and Red Bull has notably overshadowed events, such as the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, casting a long shadow over the team’s public image.

As of now, Red Bull GmbH, the Austria-based parent company of the Formula One champions, has not issued any immediate confirmation regarding the situation.

Prior to the season’s start, on February 28, Red Bull GmbH acknowledged the employee’s right to appeal following the dismissal of her grievance. The company expressed confidence in the fairness, thoroughness, and impartiality of the investigation, despite calls for greater transparency and the absence of published details.

Horner found himself at the center of intense scrutiny during the previous week’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. He is anticipated to face further questioning as the Formula One circuit moves to Australia next week.

Horner, who is married to Spice Girls singer Geri Halliwell, has been vocal about shifting the focus back to the sport itself.

Red Bull has shown formidable performance at the start of the year, securing two one-two victories with triple champion Max Verstappen leading. However, the ongoing controversy has cast a shadow over Verstappen’s future with the team.

Jos Verstappen, Max’s father, expressed concerns after the Bahrain Grand Prix that the team could disintegrate if Horner remained in his position.

Max Verstappen, the 26-year-old Dutch driver, has hinted that the continued involvement of 80-year-old Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko is crucial for his stay with the team. This comes amidst fears that Marko might face dismissal.
