In Chicago, Ayo Dosunmu delivered an outstanding performance, setting a new personal best with 34 points, while Nikola Vucevic contributed impressively with 29 points and 13 rebounds, leading the Chicago Bulls to a dominant 127-98 victory over the Washington Wizards on a memorable Saturday night.
The Bulls showcased their prowess, making the game seem effortless against the Wizards, who currently hold the NBA’s least enviable record. With Dosunmu and Vucevic at the forefront, the Bulls established a commanding 22-point lead by halftime and maintained their dominance throughout the game.
Dosunmu, who had previously topped his scoring record with 29 points in a victory against Atlanta last month, dazzled with four 3-pointers and matched his season-high with nine assists.
Alex Caruso added 16 points to the tally, while DeMar DeRozan, despite taking only seven shots, managed to contribute 13 points and six assists.
The Wizards, under interim coach Brian Keefe, faced their third consecutive defeat and their 19th loss in the last 21 games, bringing their record to a disappointing 4-20.
Leading the scoring for Washington were Corey Kispert with 16 points and Bilal Coulibaly with 15 points.
From the get-go, the Bulls seized control of the game, outperforming the Wizards with a 67-45 lead in the first half, thanks to Vucevic and Dosunmu each scoring 18 points. Vucevic also secured seven rebounds, and Dosunmu provided four assists, with Caruso chipping in 11 points as Chicago shot an impressive 60% in the half.
Despite a brief moment when the Wizards took a 19-16 lead after Justin Champagnie’s 3-pointer in the first quarter, the Bulls quickly turned the tables. A finger-roll layup by Dosunmu and a 3-pointer by Caruso ignited a 17-3 run, extending their lead to 24 points at 63-39 shortly before halftime.
The Bulls had to contend without one of their key players, guard Coby White, who missed his second game due to a strained right hip. Coach Billy Donovan expressed hope for White’s return within the next week, following an injury incurred during a game against the Pacers.
Looking ahead, the Wizards are set to host Boston on Sunday, while the Bulls will welcome Portland on Monday.
