The Detroit Lions have made a significant move by re-signing Donovan Peoples-Jones, a key player they traded for midseason last year. The deal, confirmed on Saturday, is for one year and could be worth up to $2 million. This information comes from a report by Bleacher Report.
During his time with the Lions last season, Peoples-Jones made an impact by catching five passes for a total of 58 yards across eight games. His journey to the Lions began when he was acquired from the Cleveland Browns at the trade deadline last year, in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round pick.
Peoples-Jones, who hails from Michigan and attended Detroit Cass Tech, was primarily the Lions’ fifth receiver last season. However, there’s potential for him to climb higher on the depth chart this season.
The Lions are facing the possibility of losing Josh Reynolds, who was the team’s second and third receiver last season, as he is now an unrestricted free agent. Despite this, the team still has a strong receiving corps, including leading receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, along with Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, and Antoine Green. The Lions may still seek to bolster this position through the draft.
