The Detroit Lions have made a move to strengthen their offensive lineup by re-signing wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones. According to reports from KPRC2, the agreement is for a one-year contract valued at up to $2 million.
Donovan Peoples-Jones joined the Lions from the Cleveland Browns in a trade for a future sixth-round pick during the last trade deadline. Despite only making five catches for 58 yards in eight games and not being targeted in the postseason, he contributed by returning four punts for 32 yards.
Lions general manager Brad Holmes expressed confidence in Peoples-Jones, noting his past performance and stating that he would be a great addition to the team. Holmes shared his excitement about Peoples-Jones’ eagerness to join the Lions and contribute to their success.
Before joining the Lions, Peoples-Jones was drafted by the Browns in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. During his time with Cleveland, he played in 50 games, making 117 catches for 1,837 yards and scoring eight touchdowns. He also achieved two 100-yard games. His most impressive season was in 2022 when he caught 61 passes for 839 yards and three touchdowns, making him the second-leading receiver on the team behind Amari Cooper that year.
Peoples-Jones was one of the two free-agent wide receivers from Detroit, with Josh Reynolds being the other seeking a new contract.
