It was an interesting ride, but it has come to an end. Diana Falzone of Mediate.com has shared that Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the Jets, will not be entering the political arena as a candidate for the Vice Presidency of the United States. Instead, Nicole Shanahn has been chosen for the role.
Shanahn, a lawyer from California with a past marriage to Google co-founder Sergey Brinn, is set to be announced as the running mate by Kennedy. While there was speculation about Rodgers considering the position, Falzone suggests that his potential candidacy raised concerns among campaign donors.
Rodgers now has the opportunity to claim that the media fabricated the entire story, despite Kennedy himself hinting at Rodgers being a preferred choice. Rodgers could have easily clarified his lack of interest with a simple post on X, yet he chose not to.
Kennedy’s campaign gained more attention this week, possibly more than it would have without the Rodgers speculation. Meanwhile, Rodgers faced scrutiny from CNN for allegedly endorsing Sandy Hook conspiracy theories, a claim he did not directly refute on X.
For now, Rodgers has stepped away from the possibility of a governmental role. However, it appears likely that he might consider such a path in the future.
