Texas Women’s Basketball Clinches Top Seed in Tournament

The Texas Longhorns women’s basketball team is gearing up for a thrilling challenge. They will go head-to-head with the No. 16 seed Drexel in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Fresh off their victory at the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City last week, the Longhorns have clinched a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. This achievement comes on the heels of an outstanding 30-4 regular season and a triumphant Big 12 championship.

The team’s exceptional performance this season was recognized on Sunday night, confirming their top seeding. This distinction is a testament to their hard work and success on the court.

As a result of securing the No. 1 seed, the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. This advantage means the Longhorns will enjoy the support of their home crowd for at least one game, and possibly two if they can overcome Drexel in the Round of 64.

Should the Longhorns progress to the Sweet 16 and Elite 8, their journey will take them to Portland, Oregon. Advancing further to the Women’s Final Four and the National Championship would see them competing in Cleveland.

Entering the NCAA Tournament, the Longhorns are among the nation’s top teams, having won 12 of their last 13 games. Despite the loss of former All-American Rori Harmon, the team has rallied under the leadership of Big 12 Player of the Year Madison Booker and senior star Shay Holle, an Austin native.
