In Las Vegas, Jack Eichel celebrated scoring his 21st goal of the season, leading the Vegas Golden Knights to a victory over the New Jersey Devils with a score of 3-1 this Sunday.
The game took an exciting turn when, after the Devils initially led with a 1-0 score just 38 seconds into the third period, the Golden Knights bounced back, scoring two consecutive goals.
Eichel showcased his skill by navigating through the neutral zone and securing space at the top of the slot. He then landed his seventh shot of the game past New Jersey’s goalie, Jake Allen, much to the excitement of the 18,234 fans in attendance.
The team saw additional goals from William Carrier and William Karlsson, while their goalie, Logan Thompson, made 19 saves. Noah Hanifin, the defenseman, contributed with two assists.
Nico Hischier scored the lone goal for New Jersey. The Devils faced a challenging schedule, playing back-to-back nights and marking their fourth road game in just seven days. Jake Allen, the goalie, managed to save 34 shots.
An early goal by Dawson Mercer for the Devils was disallowed due to Timo Meier’s interference with Thompson.
Following this, the Golden Knights dominated the game, outshooting the Devils 24-15 by the 19:22 mark of the third period.
Hischier managed to score after seizing an opportunity from a misdirected rebound early in the final period. However, the Golden Knights quickly recovered. Alex Pietrangelo received a cross-ice pass from Hanifin and delivered a powerful wrist shot from the left circle, which William Carrier deflected to equalize the game shortly after Hischier’s goal.
With only 20 seconds left on the clock, Karlsson sealed the win for the Golden Knights with an empty-net goal.
The game was also a milestone for Golden Knights’ Ivan Barbashev and Ben Hutton, who both celebrated their 500th career game.
Looking ahead, the Devils are set to host Pittsburgh on Tuesday night, while the Golden Knights will welcome Tampa Bay the same evening.
