Child Struck by Police Motorcycle After Downtown St. Patrick’s Day Parade

In downtown Pittsburgh, a 3-year-old girl is currently receiving care at a hospital after a police motorcycle struck her. This incident occurred right after the city’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade had concluded. Cara Cruz, an officer with Pittsburgh Public Safety, shared that according to witnesses, the young girl unexpectedly darted from her stroller into the path of the motorcycle. This happened at the intersection of Stanwix Street and Boulevard of the Allies, a section that was temporarily closed off as police attended to the situation.

The girl was awake and responsive as she was transported to UPMC Children’s Hospital, where she received treatment for her bruises. Thankfully, she is now in stable condition. The parade had already ended by the time the accident took place. Currently, the Pittsburgh police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
