Colorado has officially welcomed its first Buc-ee’s travel center and gas station. The excitement was palpable as the Johnstown location at 5201 Nugget Road opened its doors at 6 a.m. on Monday. Before dawn, eager customers lined up, many clad in Buc-ee’s merchandise, eager to be among the first to explore the new site.
Josh Smith, Buc-ee’s director of operations, highlighted the strategic location. Nestled between two major cities and with easy access to Interstate 25, the site is perfectly positioned to cater to travelers moving along this busy highway.
Buc-ee’s is not your typical gas station. It aims to provide a clean, family-friendly stopover where travelers can refuel both their vehicles and themselves, and even pick up Christmas gifts and souvenirs.
The Johnstown Buc-ee’s is a sprawling 74,000 square feet facility, boasting 116 fueling positions and 12 EV charging stations. But the offerings extend far beyond fuel. Inside, customers can find an array of snacks, meals, and souvenir items, making it a one-stop-shop for nearly everything one might need on the road.
What sets Buc-ee’s apart, however, may surprise you. The brand is renowned for having the cleanest bathrooms in America. The Johnstown location proudly offers 19 urinals and 17 stalls, maintained round-the-clock by an attendant.
Josh Smith confidently states that the cleanliness of Buc-ee’s restrooms surpasses that of most people’s homes. For those curious about the Buc-ee’s phenomenon, the Johnstown location is now open 24/7, ready to welcome visitors any time after 6 a.m. on Monday.
