In an exciting turn of events, Duquesne is gearing up for a monumental showdown. They’re set to face VCU in the A-10 Championship game. This thrilling match is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The journey for Duquesne began with a rocky start in conference play. They faced a challenging period, losing five consecutive games. This left them with a 9-8 overall record and placed them at the bottom of the A-10 standings.
However, the team didn’t let this deter their spirit. They managed to pull off an impressive comeback. By the end of the regular season, Duquesne celebrated winning 11 of their last 14 games. This included 10 victories in their last 13 A-10 games and triumphs in six of their last seven matches. They concluded the season with a 20-11 overall record and a 10-8 record in conference play.
A significant part of their success can be attributed to the outstanding performance of their senior guards, Dae Dae Grant and Jimmy Clark III. Their exceptional play throughout the season earned them All-Conference Second Team honors. Additionally, Clark received All-Defensive Team honors for the second year in a row.
