A former manager of country singer Jimmie Allen has decided to withdraw her lawsuit in which she claimed Allen sexually assaulted her.
In a recent legal development, both Allen, aged 38, and the woman, identified only as Jane Doe, submitted a request to a federal judge in the Middle District of Tennessee to dismiss her allegations. This request came as part of a court document. In this same document, Allen also chose to retract his defamation lawsuit against the woman, who previously managed his day-to-day activities.
The lawsuit against Allen was initiated by the woman in May 2023. She alleged that during her tenure as his manager from 2020 to 2022, Allen sexually assaulted and harassed her. Her lawsuit also targeted Allen’s management company, Wide Open Music, and its founder, Ash Bowers, as reported by USA Today.
The legal complaint highlighted that Bowers did not take appropriate measures to protect her after being informed of the alleged misconduct. Despite the settlement with Allen, the lawsuit against the music company and Bowers is ongoing, as noted by Variety.
In July 2023, Allen responded by filing a countersuit against the woman, addressing the lawsuit and the media attention it garnered. His legal action accused her of defamation, invasion of privacy, and causing emotional distress, as detailed by USA Today.
The legal representatives of the woman, from the law firm FeganScott, confirmed that a settlement had been reached. They stated, “Jane Doe and Jimmie Allen have come to a mutual agreement regarding the plaintiff’s claims and Mr. Allen’s counterclaims, leading to their dismissal. This decision is a reflection of both parties’ wish to move beyond this litigation.”
The statement further explained that the plaintiff is continuing her legal battle against Williams Bowers Management, doing business as Wide Open Music, and one of its key figures, Ash Bowers. This is due to their alleged involvement in the situation while she was employed as Allen’s day-to-day manager.
Allen, through a spokesperson, chose not to comment on the matter when approached by Billboard.
In addition to this case, Allen faces another lawsuit as reported by a music news website. Another woman, also referred to as “Jane Doe,” alleges that Allen assaulted her in a Las Vegas hotel room and secretly recorded the incident. This case is still pending, with Allen having filed a countersuit against this second accuser. He claims that she stole the phone he supposedly used to record her, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jimmie Allen, known for his contributions to country music, has had a notable career, highlighted by his performance at the 55th annual Country Music Association awards in Nashville, Tennessee, in November 2021.
