Andrew Tate Arrested in Romania Following U.K. Warrant, According to Spokesperson

Andrew Tate, a prominent figure on the internet known for his controversial views on gender, along with his brother Tristan, was apprehended in Romania on a Monday evening. This action was based on a European arrest warrant that originated from the UK, as confirmed by a representative for Mr. Tate.

The allegations leading to their arrest span from 2012 to 2015, encompassing accusations of sexual aggression. These charges, however, were later dismissed by the Crown Prosecution Service, the spokesperson added. The specifics regarding which UK authority issued the arrest warrant and the reasons for reopening the case remain undisclosed.

A decision regarding the extradition of the Tate brothers to the UK is anticipated to be made by the Bucharest Court of Appeal in Romania by Tuesday afternoon, the spokesman disclosed.

The brothers have firmly denied all accusations, expressing their deep dismay at the revival of such grave allegations without the presentation of significant new evidence.

Andrew Tate, who has gained notoriety for his extreme views on male superiority, made a statement on social media on Tuesday morning, indicating his defiance by saying, “The Matrix is afraid, but I only fear God.”

In addition to these recent developments, Andrew Tate, a former professional kickboxer, and his brother faced charges in 2022 for allegedly leading a criminal organization and engaging in human trafficking activities across Romania, the UK, and the USA. While some aspects of these charges remain confidential, it has been confirmed by a Romanian prosecutor’s office official that Mr. Tate is also accused of rape in the 2022 case. The brothers have consistently denied these allegations, asserting their innocence.

The timeline for a trial concerning the 2022 case has yet to be determined.

Mr. Tate’s public profile surged after his participation in the British reality show “Big Brother” in 2016, from which he was expelled following the emergence of a video showing him hitting a woman with a belt—a situation both he and the woman described as consensual.

Subsequently, Tate amassed a significant following, particularly among young men, by promoting the idea that men are undermined by feminism and asserting that women are inherently subordinate to men and require male guidance.
