Bill Jartz Honored as Local Broadcasting Icon by Wisconsin Broadcasters Association

In Green Bay, Wisconsin, the esteemed Bill Jartz, a veteran anchor for Action 2 News, has been distinguished with the Local Broadcast Legends Award by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association. Since joining WBAY in 1983, Jartz has climbed the ranks, initially leading the Action 2 Sports department before taking on the role of news anchor in 1998. By 2005, he had also become the iconic Voice of Lambeau Field, and his resonant voice is a familiar presence at various charity events, serving as both emcee and auctioneer.

Jartz is among four luminaries honored this year, sharing the spotlight with JD Barber, a charismatic on-air host who has entertained southern Wisconsin for 27 years; Jim Callow, a dedicated broadcaster who has served the Marinette community through Radio Plus Bay Cities; and Bob Lindmeier, a seasoned meteorologist at WKOW in Madison.

The Local Broadcast Legends Award, inaugurated in 2015 by Bruce Grassman, the owner and president of Results Radio, aims to celebrate those who significantly contribute behind the scenes and in their communities, embodying the broadcasting industry’s commitment to local service.

Eligibility for this prestigious award requires nominees to have at least 15 years of service in Wisconsin broadcasting, with nominations coming from their employers, colleagues, community leaders, family, or friends. The associated station or organization then formally submits these nominations.

The celebration of Bill Jartz and his fellow honorees is set for the WBA’s keynote lunch on June 20 in Fond du Lac, marking a moment of recognition for their enduring contributions to broadcasting and their communities.

Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, a notable mention was made of the 25th anniversary of Bill Jartz and Cami Rapson as evening anchors on the Action 2 News desk, highlighting their long-standing partnership and contribution to the news industry.
