Jamie Dornan Takes on Dual Roles as Twins in Netflix’s Upcoming Series ‘The Undertow’

Jamie Dornan is set to star in a thrilling new crime noir series on Netflix, titled “The Undertow,” as revealed exclusively by Variety. This upcoming show draws its inspiration from the Nordisk Film Production AS’s TV series “Twin,” created by Kristoffer Metcalfe. In this series, Dornan will portray the roles of twin brothers Adam and Lee. The series boasts an impressive cast including Mackenzie Davis, known for her roles in “Station Eleven” and “Blade Runner 2049,” Iain De Caestecker from “The Winter King” and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” and Gary Lewis, recognized for his work in “Vigil” and “Gang of New York.”

“The Undertow” presents a gripping narrative. Nicola, played by Davis, finds herself trapped in a loveless marriage with Adam, portrayed by Dornan. Her mundane life is dramatically altered when Adam’s estranged identical twin, Lee, also played by Dornan, re-enters her life, reigniting a complex romantic history. This encounter sets off a chain of events that threatens to unravel their lives. A fateful decision and a tragic accident compel Nicola to safeguard her children. Over a tense week, Lee and Nicola, entangled in a web of secrets and lies, struggle to conceal the truth. Despite their undeniable attraction, they are acutely aware that their time together is fleeting.

Production of the series is scheduled to commence later this year, set against the stunning backdrop of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. The writing team for the series includes Sarah Dollard, Hanna Jameson, Scout Cripps, and Kam Odedra, with Dollard also serving as an executive producer. Jeremy Lovering is on board as the director and executive producer. Dornan not only leads the cast but also contributes as an executive producer. The series is a collaboration between Complete Fiction and wiip, with Nira Park and Rachael Prior of Complete Fiction and David Flynn and Paul Lee of wiip serving as executive producers.

Dornan’s recent work includes the lead role in the thriller series “The Tourist,” which launched its second season in January. He is also celebrated for his performance in the BBC series “The Fall,” earning him a BAFTA TV Award nomination for best leading actor.
