On Sunday, a discovery was made in the Connecticut River. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department confirmed it was the body of a woman who had disappeared from Lebanon.
Mardrey Swenson, aged 76, was reported missing early Sunday morning, around 2:30 a.m., after she left her residence. The last known sighting of Swenson was near 15 Oak Ridge.
To find Swenson, a comprehensive search was launched. It included the New Hampshire State Police helicopter, nine K-9 units, and numerous ground teams, all focused on the vicinity of Swenson’s home.
Phil Roberts, the Lebanon Police Chief, shared with News 9 that a fisherman reported seeing what they suspected to be a body in the water on Sunday afternoon. This led to the discovery.
The community’s response to the search was overwhelming. Roberts expressed his gratitude, highlighting the significant number of volunteers with their dogs who joined the search effort. He also thanked the New Hampshire State Police for their helicopter support, which was crucial in the recovery process.
A missing vulnerable adult/silver alert had been issued for Swenson but was later canceled on Sunday afternoon.
According to Swenson’s husband, she had gone to bed at 10 p.m. the previous night. By 2:30 a.m., he noticed she was not in the house.
Authorities have stated that they do not suspect any foul play in this case.
