In Washington, a recent update has brought relief to Celtics fans regarding Sam Hauser. After an incident during a game against the Wizards, where Hauser injured his left ankle, the X-rays came back negative. This means the forward didn’t suffer any serious injury. The mishap occurred early in the third quarter when Hauser accidentally stepped on a Wizards player’s foot.
The future games might see Hauser on the bench, as his participation in the upcoming match against the Pistons remains uncertain. However, the good news is that he’s not expected to miss many games.
Before the injury, Hauser was on the verge of setting a new record. He had successfully made 10 out of 13 attempts from the 3-point line. With just under eight minutes left in the third quarter, he was only one 3-pointer short of equaling the Celtics’ single-game record. Moreover, he was four short of breaking the NBA’s single-game record of 14, held by Klay Thompson of the Warriors.
Despite three Celtics starters being unable to play, Hauser was ready to take on more responsibility in the game. His performance was impressive, earning praise from teammate Al Horford for his excellent rhythm on the court. Unfortunately, after missing a 3-point attempt, Hauser stepped on an opposing player’s foot and twisted his ankle, which led to him leaving the game.
Even though Hauser couldn’t achieve a new record, finishing the game with 30 points, the Celtics are relieved that his injury isn’t serious. This comes as good news as the team prepares for their championship run next month.
