Meryl Streep and Martin Short Share Delightful Broadway Evening Together, Quashing Dating Speculation

Meryl Streep and Martin Short recently enjoyed a Broadway show together, putting to rest rumors about their relationship status. They had previously clarified that they are not romantically involved but simply great friends.

The duo, known for their roles in “Only Murders in the Building,” was seen with big smiles at the “Merrily We Roll Along” performance on Saturday night. An attendee at the Hudson Theatre captured a photo of Streep, 74, and Short, 73, sitting side by side, enjoying the show.

Following the performance, Streep and Short made their way backstage. They congratulated the cast and took the opportunity to take photos with the performers. Streep expressed her admiration for the show in a video shared by cast member Krystal Joy Brown on Instagram, saying, “Wonderful! You were wonderful. What a show. What a show. It must be a joy, I hope it is. That was … wow.”

In a spontaneous moment, Short began singing “Old Friends” from the musical, and Streep, along with the cast, joined in for an impromptu rendition. Brown shared her excitement on her Instagram Story, mentioning how honored she felt to perform for Streep and Short and highlighting the kind words they shared about the show.

This Broadway visit comes shortly after the pair were seen leaving a dinner together, sparking further speculation about their relationship. They had dined with friends at the fashionable Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica, California, last month.

Rumors about Streep and Short potentially being an item started circulating after they appeared quite friendly at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards. However, Short addressed these rumors on the “Club Random with Bill Maher” podcast in January, emphasizing that they are merely close friends.

In other news, Page Six had exclusively reported last October that Streep and her husband, sculptor Don Gummer, had quietly separated over six years ago after four decades of marriage. The former couple has four children together.

Short, on the other hand, was married to actress Nancy Dolman until her passing in 2010 from ovarian cancer. They shared three children together.
