New Beach Boys Documentary Set to Premiere on Disney+ in May

The Beach Boys, a documentary spotlighting the legendary group, is set to make its debut on Disney+ come May 24. This film is a tribute to the iconic band that transformed pop music with their harmonious sound, embodying the California dream. It has captured the hearts of fans across multiple generations.

Featuring exclusive, never-before-seen footage alongside fresh interviews with band members Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, and Bruce Johnston, the documentary promises an intimate look at the band’s journey. Music luminaries such as Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, and Don Was also contribute their insights. Additionally, former members Carl and Dennis Wilson, along with Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar, share their experiences.

Directed by the talented duo of Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny, and penned by Mark Monroe, “The Beach Boys” is a production of Kennedy/Marshall and White Horse Pictures. The producing team includes Marshall, Irving Azoff, Nicholas Ferrall, Jeanne Elfant Festa, and Aly Parker, with executive production by Nigel Sinclair, Mark Monroe, Tony Rosenthal, Cassidy Hartmann, Glen Zipper, Thom Zimny, Beth Collins, Jimmy Edwards, Susan Genco, Marc Cimino, Jody Gerson, Bruce Resnikoff, and Ben J. Murphy.

In tandem with the film’s premiere on May 24, fans will also have the opportunity to stream the documentary’s soundtrack. Additionally, marking the occasion, the Beach Boys’ 1964 album “Shut Down Vol. 2” will be re-released on limited edition blue-and-white marble vinyl on March 29. The band’s official book, “The Beach Boys by the Beach Boys,” is scheduled for release on April 2 through Genesis Publications.

Disney+ continues to enrich its musical documentary offerings, having recently released Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” movie, which broke streaming records with 4.6 million views in its initial three days. The platform also brought to audiences Peter Jackson’s Beatles docuseries “Get Back” in 2021, further establishing its commitment to delivering premium music content.
