Kokomo Police Dismantle Counterfeit Pill Ring, Arrest Two Suspects

In Kokomo, Indiana, a significant breakthrough occurred in the fight against illegal narcotics. The Howard County Sheriff’s Office successfully apprehended a man aged 33 and a woman aged 28. This action came after a thorough investigation pointed to their residence as a hub for producing counterfeit fentanyl.

The operation unfolded on the morning of March 19. A specialized team, consisting of the Howard County Violent Crimes Sheriff’s Office Task Force Unit and Day Shift Patrol, joined forces with Howard County Probation. Their target was a house located on the 800 block of East Hoffer Street, a spot nestled close to Home Avenue and East Boulevard.

The search yielded alarming results. Authorities discovered 98 fake fentanyl pills, a machine for pressing pills, and more than 100 grams of fentanyl. Additionally, they found an illegally owned firearm and various tools for crafting counterfeit pills. A particularly disturbing find was several grams of fentanyl concealed within an infant’s formula container.

Following the search, the police took a 28-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man into custody. While formal charges are pending, the seriousness of the situation is underscored by the preliminary charges of felony possession and dealing in narcotics faced by both individuals. The woman also faces two counts of felony child neglect, highlighting the broader dangers such operations pose to families and communities.

The Howard County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking further information on this case. They encourage anyone with insights to reach out to the Sheriff Task Force Unit or to visit their website to submit a tip.
