In the heart of Brasov, Romania, a dog named Jingles has spent nearly his entire life waiting for a family to call his own. Discovered as a puppy alongside his brother Amadeus near a bustling roadway, the two were rescued from a precarious life on the streets by Roxana, a kind-hearted savior.
In 2020, the U.K.-based EverMore Dog Rescue began its support for Roxana’s mission, facilitating the transfer of Romanian dogs in dire need to the U.K. for a chance at finding their forever homes. This collaboration led to Jingles’ relocation to Britain in January, where he has since been living with a foster family in Oxfordshire. This move marked the nine-year-old dog’s first taste of life beyond the shelter’s confines. Amadeus is set to join him soon, with both brothers on the lookout for a permanent place to call home.
Marilyn Angell, the founder of EverMore Dog Rescue, shared with Newsweek Jingles’ enduring youthful spirit. Despite his age, Jingles is full of life, eager for daily walks, affection, and a family to be a part of. He dreams of a home with a garden, and he’s sociable enough to live with other dogs, thanks to his friendly and playful nature.
EverMore Dog Rescue, established in 2018, collaborates with various public shelters in Romania, addressing the country’s significant stray dog dilemma. Romania faces a challenging situation with over 500,000 homeless dogs, a problem exacerbated by urbanization in the 1970s that saw many families leave their pets behind.
To combat the issues of overcrowded shelters and unneutered street dogs, organizations like EverMore Dog Rescue have stepped in. They not only rescue dogs like Jingles but also support initiatives such as Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return programs and advocate for responsible pet ownership.
Jingles, who adores people, can be adopted by families with considerate children over the age of eight. Given his recent arrival in Britain, the rescue is eager to find him a U.K. home to spare him further travel.
Angell has turned to TikTok to share Jingles’ story, garnering sympathy and support for the gentle dog in search of a forever home. Followers have expressed their heartache and hope for Jingles, emphasizing that no dog should have to wait so long for a loving home.
