Alert: Surge in Armed Robberies Prompts Community Warning on Northwest and West Sides

The Chicago Police Department has issued an alert to the community following a series of 14 armed robberies. These incidents have occurred on the Northwest and West sides over the past four days.

The majority of these robberies, 13 to be exact, took place on a single Saturday. They spanned across several neighborhoods including Avondale, Austin, Logan Square, and Portage Park. Additionally, there was another incident that happened on the preceding Thursday. This particular robbery took place in the 2600 block of West Fletcher Avenue at approximately 7:41 p.m.

In each of these alarming incidents, groups of four to five men emerged from vehicles. They confronted the victims with handguns, demanding everything the victims had on them. In a particularly distressing event, a woman was shot at by one of the assailants. The bullet struck her in the neck and shoulder.

The police have provided a description of the suspects. They are believed to be young men, aged between 18 and 30. They were seen wearing black ski masks, joggers, jeans, and hoodies. Their height is approximately 6 feet. The weapons they carried included handguns, rifles, and knives.

The locations of the armed robberies that occurred on that fateful Saturday are as follows:

– At 06:05 a.m., in the 1600 Block of North Linder Avenue.
– At 06:10 a.m., in the 1700 Block of North Lotus Avenue.
– At 06:15 a.m., in the 4200 Block of West Armitage Avenue.
– At 10:00 a.m., in the 2300 Block of North Springfield Avenue.
– At 10:20 a.m., in the 2800 Block of North Harding Avenue.
– At 10:33 a.m., in the 2300 Block of North Lawndale Avenue.
– At 11:50 a.m., in the 2000 Block of North Campbell Avenue.
– At 12:03 p.m., in the 2600 Block of North Mozart Street.
– At 12:07 p.m., in the 3000 Block of North Spaulding Avenue.
– At 01:14 p.m., in the 4800 Block of West Hutchison Avenue.
– At 1:30 p.m., in both the 2900 Block of North Ridgeway Avenue and the 3700 Block of West George Street.
– Finally, at 1:40 p.m., in the 2700 Block of North Lawndale Avenue.

The community is urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
