Meet Our Pets of the Week: Kid-Loving Jet and Cuddly Pasta Await Forever Homes

Located at 3770 Spring Arbor Road, the Jackson County Animal Shelter is a haven for numerous pets eagerly waiting to find their forever homes.

Among the furry friends available for adoption, two stand out. Jet, a 4-year-old Labrador Retriever mix, arrived at the shelter as a stray. His most captivating feature is his stunning light blue eyes. Jet is a bundle of joy and energy, always ready to play and accompany you on walks. He has a special love for children, greeting them with excitement and showering them with affectionate licks.

Pasta, a 2-year-old brown tabby cat, also came to the shelter as a pregnant stray. Now that her kittens have grown, Pasta is ready to find a home of her own. She’s an incredibly sweet and mellow cat who adores attention and cuddles. Pasta gets along splendidly with other cats in her current environment.

Adopting a dog from the shelter requires filling out an application online and a mandatory meet-and-greet session. For those interested in adopting a cat, a walk-through of the cat room is available to gauge reactions. The adoption fee for medium and large dogs is $150, and $250 for puppies and small dogs. This fee covers vaccinations, a microchip, and sterilization. Cat adoption fees are set at $60 for one cat and $80 for two, including necessary tests, vaccinations, and spay/neutering procedures.

While visiting the shelter in person is highly recommended, potential adopters can also explore adoption options through online applications at https://www.co.jackson.mi.us/2302/Our-Adoptable-Animals, by faxing 517-780-4750, or by emailing animalshelter@mijackson.org.

The shelter operates from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday; extends its hours to 7 p.m. on Thursdays; and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
